To organizations develop international influence or start

To what extent has globalization help terrorism grow? The dictionary defines terrorism as ‘the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims’.Terrorism is not a new subject for any of us. Since we remember there have been attacks organized by rebel groups threatening different ethnicities. From ETA, in Spain to the to Al-Qaeda in Iraq or the Taliban in Afghanistan there have always been people who thought something was not right and felt the need to impose their own rules. But, have any of us seen anything similar to what ISIS has been doing for the past years?According to the CNN, 143 attacks in 29 countries have killed 2043 people. This is just a small proportion of the attacks there have been since 2014. As it may be the first rebel group to reach such a global scale it will be the one I will focus on throughout this essay in order to answer my question. Likewise, it is a concern felt by everyone who sees the future with more uncertainty and apprehensiveness. It is not out of nowhere that it was only now that such group was able to become so uncontrollable and powerful. Globalisation, which is ‘the process by which businesses or other organizations develop international influence or start operating on an international scale’ can be seen as the main factor affecting terrorism as it the main change which occurred during these years. This has been able to be very advantageous to this terrorist group as it is what enabled them to so rapidly catch the attention of the world in order to get recruits and inspire them to also have an impact in their own city. ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) emerged from AQI (Al-Qaeda Iraq) but does not quite have the same objectives. While AQI target was mainly the U.S due to its invasions (Osama bin Laden 9/11), ISIS completely anyone that does not follow the sharia law as they do, and feels it can do anything in order to purify those people into better human beings. Even if this means provoking fear, bombing places and killing themselves.Although globalization at first may seem something very positive because it brings in new ideas which lead to development as well as acceptance of new ideas. As Bernard Lewis states, an expert in the history of Islam, Islam values are not near compatible with modernization and so each step taken to make the world more open is seen ‘a slap in the face of Muslims’. This makes it very obvious on how these rebel easily find ways to criticize the western world. They have completely different views and see our acceptance of new things like LGBT and women empowerment as a sin. SOURCES!! Moreover, groups like ISIS cannot be totally considered Muslims as they have killed many of their own, break some of the major sins like murder and disputing violently but also their extremist reading of the Quran. They may believe that it is what their god wants, however, this view is not shared by the other Muslims who have previously protested against ISIS. A good example is after the bombing in Manchester thousands of Muslims went to the streets of London and showed their hatred about ISIS. In very basic terms, this shows how globalization us seen by these groups and how they react to our development.
